Course Overview

This qualification is specifically designed for people with safety responsibility in any country and in any kind of organisation. The Certificate covers the primary legal requirements as laid out in International Labour Organization (ILO) conventions and recommendations and documented best international practices for managing health and safety in the workplace.

Unit IGC1: Management of international health and safety

Element 1 – Foundations in health and safety
Element 2 – Health and safety management systems – Plan
Element 3- Health and safety management systems – Do
Element 4- Health and safety management systems – Check
Element 5 – Health and safety management systems 4 – Act

Unit GC2: Controlling workplace hazards

Element 1 –  Workplace hazards and risk control
Element 2- Transport hazards and risk control
Element 3 – Musculoskeletal hazards and risk control
Element 4 -Work equipment hazards and risk control
Element 5 – Electrical safety
Element 6 – Fire safety
Element 7 – Chemical and biological health hazards and risk control

Unit GC3: Health and safety practical application

This unit contains no additional syllabus content. However, completion of study for unit IGC1 and GC2 is recommended in order to undertake the practical application unit GC3.

Method of Study & Examination

The NEBOSH International General Certificate Study Guidance is studied in classroom.

The Course will be provided by our accreditated lead tutor/tutors, with study/revision/exam advice/ past papers, links to relevant material, support details. You will also be provided with a textbook that contains all relevant material for the course.

There are three major course Units (IGC1, GC2 & GC3) to successfully complete before you become fully certified with the NEBOSH National General Certificate qualification Units IGC1 and IGC2 are each assessed by a two-hour written exam. Each paper comprises 10 short-answer questions and one long-answer question. All questions are compulsory. In addition, students must complete a practical inspection report assessment for Unit GC3. The practical paper GC3 consists of carrying out a risk assessment of a workplace and preparing a short report.

You need to gain a minimum passing grade of 45 marks out of 100 for each of the core Unit exam papers and  for practical paper a minimum passing grade of 60 out of 100 marks is required to successfully pass

Recognition of IOSH

NEBOSH qualifications are also recognized and accepted by IOSH (the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) in meeting the academic requirements for Technical Membership of IOSH (Tech IOSH).
